It is not possible for us to put photos for every different types of procedures on the web. We put these photos to help our patients understand their treatment and to aid in treatment planning for our patients.

Cosmetic Dentistry-Example 1

She presented at our dental center to improve her overall dental esthetics. After couple of sessions of diagnostics and treatment planning, patient has decided to have one dental implant and six crowns for her front teeth.

In order to achieve a predictable end result, diagnostic wax-up was done to create a "blue print" for her treatment.

After diagnostics, it was found a gum surgery was necessary before crowning of her front six teeth. After a sufficient healing time after the gum surgery "crown lenghtening," her front six teeth were prepared for crowns with preparation guide/matrix to ensure the angulation and length of teeth were properly prepared to match the initial diagnostic wax-up, "blue print."

Part of the crowns were designed on computer and they were milled out to render a precision fit; and porcelain was baked on top of it to make a beautiful looking crowns.

Patient was very happy at the end and the change is significiant!

Implant Fixed Denture

Recently completed. This patient presented with multiple missing teeth on her upper jaw. She was wearing a partial denture which she didn't want to wear because of a full coverage of her palate.

She requested a fixed solution for her upper teeth. After exploring various options, she decided to go with this treatment: implant fixed teeth which are in one piece and no longer have to take them out and not worry about it coming loose. Diagnostic wax-up and planning was done; patient approved the esthetics of the diagnostic model; surgical guide was made based on the diagnosis; and implants were placed using the fabricated surgical guide.

The result speaks for itself. This whole treatment took over a year to complete. Yes we could have done this in one day, but probably won't be the same result.

It takes time to build a good house with a good foundation and so does everything else. Everyone wants to do things fast and we clinicians want to complete a dental treatment as soon as possible. But at what cost? Our dentists, along with many clinicians out there, choose quality and you should too.

PS: This is NOT an all-on-4 design: not one implant was placed at 45 degrees angle. They are all straight up and down. We don't do this for every patient. We provide a customized treatment plan for every patient. One shoe doesn't fit all, nor does one treatment option fit everyone.

Implant Crowns - Example 1

She presented to our dental clinic with a broken front tooth from a fall. She did not want to wear a denture and specifically asked for an implant option. She also chose to go through an additional esthetic procedure to contour her soft tissue.

This extra step requires to have a temporary implant crown made and several more appointments to contour and modify her soft tissue to look as esthetic as possible and to shape her gum to render a more natural look on the final crown.

Observe how the missing tooth area looks flat compared to the third photo. This is done so that both the patient and the dentist can guess somewhat more accurately where the soft tissue will end up and to give a more predictable outcome. Predictable outcome means acceptable esthetics and function as this process will continue until the patient is satisfied with shape of the gum and the shape of the tooth.

Even before the day of the final crown insertion, she knows how natural it will look and how her gum is shaped natural. When it comes to having an implant done in your smile zone, make sure you explore the option of going through the steps to ensure the contour of your gum around the crown. This way, we know how to shape the final crown and it will be shaped as natural as possible. You don't have to be left in the dark when it comes to having an implant in your smile zone. Make sure you have a look before it is sent to completion.

Implant Crowns - Example 2

This patient had a fractured molar and a premolar. Her first choice was to have implants to replace both. Two dental implants were placed to replace those teeth. Can you tell which two of the teeth on the last photo are implant crowns?

Great esthetics can be achieved even with dental implants. Many patients will accept average looking implant crowns as they were never explained this kind of result can be achieved. This is achievable, but not for everyone.

There are so many different brands of implants, types of crown materials, types of design and etc. It is important to know what is being used in your treatment.

Although there are many variables and materials being used in dental implant therapy, a careful planning is still the most important component in every aspect of implant dentistry.

Who said a dental implant should look like a dental implant, anyway?

Implant Crowns - Example 3

Patient was congenitally missing two front teeth. He wanted implant crowns. Dr. Nathan placed the two implants and made the two implant fixed temporary crowns. Temporary implant crowns were used for him to ensure the best esthetic result of the final implant crowns. Temporary implant crowns are strongly recommended for esthetic areas as in this patient. Despite extra time and expense for the patient, it means better final result!

72 year old patient had a fractured tooth. Dr. Nathan extracted the tooth and immediately placed a dental implant in the same appointment. Patient received an implant crown after the healing.

Implant Crowns - Example 5

A apprehensive 28 year-old female patient walked in with a broken tooth that she wanted to replace with a dental implant. The patient was very concerned with her appearance and wanted to make sure the end result would be good. Dr. Nathan placed a dental implant and the patient also required some additional bone at the same time. Tissues around the dental implant healed very nicely and Dr. Nathan opted to give her a zirconia crown for the implant to enhance the final result. The end result was perfect and the patient was very happy with the result.

Implant Crowns - Example 6

A 43 year-old patient sought after dental implant treatment for her failing and missing teeth. After careful examination and treatment planning with the patient, she opted to have 5 dental implants. Dr. Nathan placed 5 dental implants and replaced all the missing teeth and failing teeth without any form of complications. She commented that she can “smile again.”

Implant Complete Denture - Example 1

87 year old patient wanted to have implants to hold her lower denture. She also requested to have a new set of denture made. Dr. Nathan made her new set of dentures from start to finish (including all the lab work). Patient was very happy with her new smile and how well she could function with implants holding her lower denture.

Implant Complete Denture - Example 2

72 year-old patient presented to Dr. Nathan with a failing partial denture on the top. She was adamant that she did not want anything on the palate or the roof of her mouth. She was looking for a solution with dental implant to hold her upper denture (false teeth) in place. A 4 dental implants retained denture was recommended for her. During the implant surgery, her bone and gum were modified in order to form a nice smooth shape for the final denture. The patient healed very well and the patient was able to receive her implant retained complete upper denture in few months

Implant Fixed Denture

Meet Lisa. She was 19 years old when Dr. Nathan saw her for the first time. She was congenitally missing all her lower teeth and multiple upper teeth with malformed teeth. She opted for upper complete denture and lower Implant Fixed Complete Denture. Four implants were placed and her lower teeth were fixed in place to the implants using the good old conventional method.
This patient was treated couple years ago and the framework design and casting were done by hand. Now we do Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), which we use all the time these days.

Bridge

Meet our neighbor! You may be able to see him walking on Avenue Road with his lovely wife. He wanted to replace his missing front tooth with a dental implant. After a consultation and examination, it was decided that a bridge will suit him better. He also wanted to take care of his root decays around his mouth. Dr. Nathan removed all the root cavities and restored his mouth with composite resin (“white filling”). Afterward, the bridge was done. The bridge turned out really well; the patient and his lovely wife were both happy with the result.

Full-mouth Rehabilitation - Example 2

This patient was referred to Dr. Nathan by a colleague. The patient was 30 year-old at the time of presentation and is a very successful young professional: a VP of one of a very large company. He was concerned with severe sensitivity of his teeth due to ingestion of too much acidic food and drinks: one third of his teeth were melted/eroded. He was moving up the corporate ladder and was hoping to find a more definitive treatment with a good esthetic and functional result, so he could concentrate on his career. Recommended treatment for him was to do a full-mouth rehabilitation: all of his teeth were crowned except his 4 lower front teeth (in this case) to restore function and esthetics.

Dr. Nathan carefully planned the case. He also fabricated all his temporary crowns to ensure proper bite and esthetics. Patient also went through a full-mouth gum surgery done by Dr. Nathan. The final result was ecstatic: patient loved his new smile and he could function very well. A case as big as this requires commitment from both the patient and the clinician. This is a long demanding process, and such case as this should not be taken lightly.
